  1. UBS Oracle Database Engineering prepares database products for use within the Bank. The Team automates installation and maintenance of these products and sets standards for how database products should be managed and integrated within the enterprise. The Team produces tools to make the use and management of database products easy, secure and standard. Our primary customers are the Database Operations and Application Development communities within UBS. The role will be located in the UBS office in Wrocław. Responsibilities: Your role in Database Engineering will be to collaborate with around fifteen, global, senior, Oracle professional engineers. You will be producing all the automation and integration required to use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 12c to power the entire Oracle estate of databases. UBS has a sharp focus on database security and the automation that we produce needs to operate in a highly controlled environment where audit and compliance and security are key. You will take shared ownership of an exciting OEM 12c implementation designed to fully power day to day database Operations. Install, provision, patch, backup, manage, monitor, secure… all primarily achieved through OEM. You will gain exposure to a massive, shared service implementation of Oracle on Oracle Exadata, using RAC and DataGuard and OID. Your team Your job will be within a Team that sets the direction and strategy for Oracle Database usage in one of the largest, global, enterprise users of Oracle technologies. You will join a project embarking on the standardisation and automation of Oracle Database activities in the Bank with comprehensive exposure to the latest Oracle technologies and tools, including Exadata and ODA, OEM 12c and Oracle RAC on the latest versions. The project is building the infrastructure and automation to act as the hosting platform on which the Bank will consolidate many thousands of Oracle installations into a standardised, industrialised, shared Service. Your experience and skills Requirements: You are an experienced Oracle DBA with a focus on developing automation solutions rather than on database operations. You will have strong knowledge and practical experience of using Oracle Enterprise Manager for far more than just a monitoring solution. We’re looking for someone like that to be part of our Application Performance Monitoring Centre of Excellence who can help us: – understand user requirements, and propose and implement system enhancements as required to meet that demand – provide advice and guidance to users of the APM tool to help them meet their day to day tasks and objectives with the tool – analyze complexity and feasibility of new or changed requirements – perform engineering duties with the APM tool to ensure that the production environment remains stable and up to date with product releases from the vendor – plan, develop, and test future releases of the APM tool and associated components – liaise with other teams within the Infrastructure Services organisation to ensure the APM tool is integrated effectively into other IT services provided by the group Your team You’ll be working in the Wroclaw division of the Enterprise Monitoring team. Our role is to manage the strategy and development of the processes and tools that are used within UBS to support the monitoring of applications and supporting infrastructure. These tools include IBM Netcool, AppDynamics, and xMatters. We help the organisation to achieve strategic objectives by ensuring that the Enterprise Monitoring platform is capable of adapting to ever changing demand, and delivering quality controlled releases of our platform on a regular basis. Your experience and skills • Analytical and logical (you can solve problems like nobody’s business) • An excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal skills • Motivated, self-directed and driven • Fluent in English • Multi-year experience of working with monitoring technologies, with a specific expertise in Application Performance Monitoring • Experience of working with AppDynamics or similar tools • Unix Shell / Perl scripting skills • Understanding of common application frameworks, including Websphere Application Server, Tomcat • Understanding of common application landscapes such as .NET and Java About us Expert advice.
